Regional Ecological Themes

The PBIN strategic plan identified several focus area priorities for identifying biological information of the region for assisting and collaborating with researchers, educators, decision-makers, and the general public. These cross-cutting priorities are:
Invasive fish thumbnail

Invasive Species - The natural environments of islands, such as the Hawaiian archipelago, are disproportionately effected by invasive plants and animals. Learn about what is being done in the areas of invasive species prevention, early detection & rapid response, and management & treatment.

Rare bird thumbnail

Rare, Threatened & Endangered Species- Hawaii is the "endangered species capital" of the United States. Learn about the rare plants and animals of the region, the habitats in which they live, and what is being done to protect them. (Under Development)
