Lagomorphs are members of the taxonomic order Lagomorpha. Order Lagomorpha is further subdivided into smaller taxonomic groups called families. In Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Tennessee, one family is represented: hares, rabbits, and cottontails of the family Leporidae.
